Choosing not to go in a shelter because of

Claustrophobia and other illness like P.T.S.D.

How could those who have fought for freedom survive without your help and support?
Since January 2, 2010 temperatures have dropped to record lows across the United States. Yet there are over 500,000 individuals out in the cold trying to survive and weather the storm. There are a number of reasons why our Veterans across the U.S. are still out in the cold. One of the reasons were indicated and quoted by a Veteran located in Miami, Florida. "

    On The Streets

America we have a serious problem in this country when a veteran is not ashamed to ask for spare change or beg for a place to sleep when the shelters are full but they are too proud to ask for help to heal, stop self-medicating themselves to death and do whatever it takes to hold their families together. What's wrong with us? As the media reports more and more on PTSD how is it that the numbers of homeless veterans, attempted suicides and successful suicides goes up instead of down? How is it that with years of covering the veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq, they have not managed to get it into our brains that this nation needs to fully mobilize to help them come back home? Lets help our heros during this harsh winter season by providing new warm sleeping bags for our homeless Veterans. Our goal is to provide at least 3,000 new sleeping bags in the Miami Dade County area within the next month. Please help us Make A Wish for a Veteran …Today!!

    Homeless Veterans On The Rise.....

    giveintro1.jpg

There are a bunch of homeless veterans out on the street that are new to the scene. When I say new to the scene I want to tell you about homeless veterans since Vietnam. Vietnam veterans make up over half of the number of homeless veterans in the USA. Here is some simple math. Fifty (50)  out of one-hundred (100) homeless veterans are Vietnam Vets. One-hundred (100)out of three-hundred (300) homeless people are veterans. So, who makes up the other half of the homeless veterans statistics?

Answer, one-third of the remaining homeless veterans since the Vietnam war are now women, That is right, women. Going back to simple math , 50 out of 100 homeless vets are Vietnam veterans. That means that 17 out of the remaining 50 homeless veterans are women. Why is that you might ask.?

Since Vietnam, women have been sent to combat right along with the men. Sid by side in the trenches, side by side sleeping on the open road with the rest of the American warriors driving truck convoys thru the enemy territory, side by side on patrols where the enemy could care less of they kill a man or a woman, although it is way more fun for them to capture an American woman warrior than an American man Warrior. Think about that. Suddenly we have women serving in combat. Suddenly we now have a lot of women veterans that are homeless.

What that means is that their husbands/boyfriends/significant others have left them for some reason or another.

Vietnam Veterans can tell you why that is the case.

These women have PTSD which is a significant issue.  Remember PTSD was recognized as a real threat to the health of a veteran years ago. The V.A. recognizes the problem and were ordered to, by a high government official, to find effective means to treat the condition.

Yes Veterans, 10,000 American warriors that have seen combat in a foreign country are living on the street. I think you are thinking that 10,000 homeless veterans isn't that much in the scheme of things but keep in mind that these are 10,000 women warriors.

I remember when I dropped out of college to join the Army to go to Vietnam, to stop the Red Tide of Communism as well as make the world safe for our way of life and our women folk. The world has changed since then.

Now our women folk are going out with us to do the very same thing, help protect our way of life and our children. War is hell they say but being a veteran in the USA should be much better, just ask the 10,000 women veterans that are homeless and living in the streets of your cities and towns.

Just one small point I would like to add to this article. The majority of these homeless women veterans are mothers and have children. If they just have two children we should really try to make that mental leap and say that there are 30,000 homeless veterans out there. Don't you just wonder what those children are learning about the American way of life....today?

We have a responsibility to these heroes that have served their country in the name of democracy and freedom, live up to it. There is a final accounting of our actions as U.S Citizens to a higher authority. Let us join together and Make A Wish for a Veteran, Today!!
